Window Cleaners

The window cleaners have just been and gone. I had to hide! I always try to hide from them but after last time I really have to hide from them! I was sitting at my window doing my make up, stark naked. What? My bedroom is at the back of the house in a tree lined garden, usually with no intruders! So I was happily beautifying myself when I noticed something move out of the corner of my eye. When I realised it was a man, I jumped and screamed. A really really really loud aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! With my mouth open, towards his face. Then I remembered I was naked and let out the scream again before trying to cover myself with my hands. Luckily, mine are only a handful 😉 The guy was making hand gestures to apologise but I had to let go again to pull the blind shut! As if he hadn’t seen enough! And then I carried on doing my make up. I had to laugh at the situation!

Window cleaners must have a great time! I know they like to have a good nosy into your house too because whilst hiding from them one day, I was able to spy on one of them through a crack in the door. And there he was having a good oul nebby into my ridiculously messy room complete with dirty knickers and bras, as if it was an exhibit at a museum or rather a zoo! Oh the stories they must have to tell!

Pancake Tuesday

This day last week, I was stuffing myself with pancakes and crepes! Unfortunately I don’t have the time this week or I’d be indulging all over again! I love pancakes. And by pancakes, I mean scotch pancakes. The lovely thicker type. I especially like the bigger scotch pancakes, toasted and buttered with sugar 🙂

Scotch Pancakes

So last Tuesday morning, I enjoyed these shop bought pancakes for breakfast and then for lunch I made some of my own 🙂 My mum randomly bought me a crepe maker for Christmas, like the ones you see used at markets! I’d only used it once with not much luck. I wasn’t able to get the hang of using the wooden batter spreader. The professionals make it look so easy! So Pancake Tuesday was perfect for giving it another go! The recipe I used came with the crepe maker, although I adjusted it a little.

  • 110g flour (I used 150g as I thought the batter was quite runny)
  • 2 eggs
  • 225ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (I have a sweet tooth!)
  • oil/butter for frying

  • Sieve the flour into a bowl and add the sugar if using
  • Make a well and add the eggs
  • Whisk the flour and eggs
  • Gradually add the milk whilst continuing to whisk
  • Ladel a spoonful onto your greased crepe maker or frying pan
  • Let it cook for 60 – 90 seconds before flipping 🙂
  • Let it cook again for 60 -90 seconds
  • Top with your favourite toppings and munch!
  • Eat until you can eat no more!

As you can see I mastered the art of crepe making! I discovered the height of the bench or table you’re working on makes all the difference! The first time I used the crepe maker, the bench was quite high. This time I used the kitchen table which is much lower. This gives a great angle for being able to spread the batter around gently with your wrist. This was proven at dinner time, when I tried it on the bench again. The result was messy, flimsy, hole filled crepes. If you could even call them crepes! So I moved back to the kitchen table and whipped up lots of perfect crepes for all the family! I was really enjoying pretending to serve up crepes at my own market stall 🙂 I could get used to it!

There are lots of toppings to choose from, both sweet and savoury. I stuck to my favourites, butter and sugar, lemon and sugar and Nutella and Banana. (Yeah, savoury crepes just don’t make my mouth water!) If I had of had After Eights, I would have chopped them up and filled some with them too. Try it! It’s one I discovered in Germany!

Nutella & Banana

I wish I had the time to make some more today. They were delicious!

Valentine’s Cookie Recipe

I thought I’d share the recipe I used to make my valentine’s cookies:) Basically they’re just iced biscuits and fully customisable for any occasion! So thanks to Jelly at !

  • 250g butter, softened
  • 320g plain flour, sieved
  • 125g icing sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • icing sugar for finishing touches

  • Preheat oven to 170 C
  • Mix butter with a mixer until light

  • Add the flour, icing sugar, milk and vanilla extract ( I only mixed it a little with the mixer to begin with)

  • Then knead the mixture into a velvety dough…

  • Separate the dough into two halves and roll out to a 6mm thickness, using as little extra flour as possible!

  • Cut out hearts or whatever shape you choose using a cookie cutter, or glass, or mug or whatever you want!

Cut Shapes

  • Place onto a lightly greased baking tray or one lined with baking paper and bake for around 12 minutes

  •  The cookies will be almost white when baked. Unfortunately I can never adhere to this rule and always end up with slightly burnt cookies!

Bake the Cookies

  • Leave to cool before icing, or else sprinkle them with some icing sugar. I did a mixture 🙂

Iced Cookies!

And there you have it! I could do with practising my icing skills more!

Valentine’s Day

This year was the first time I’ve actually been in a proper relationship for Valentine’s Day. You would think that would have made me all excited and soppy and girly, but weirdly I wasn’t! And I’m not a Valentine’s hater either! Up until Monday night, I didn’t really care if we celebrated it or not. Perhaps I’d just been so focused on other goings on and stressed out that I hadn’t been in the mood.

On Monday night though, I suddenly felt guilty that I hadn’t put much effort in for Valentine’s Day. I am madly in love with my boyfriend afterall! Plus I’m one of the few lucky girls who actually has a boyfriend who is quite soppy, sentimental and romantic 🙂 He probably would have felt a bit let down. So I got my thinking cap on! I had already got him a couple of presents and was planning to take him out for lunch at the weekend, but I wanted to do something special.

I began with writing his card. I wanted to put in one of those silly Valentine’s verses, but in trying to come up with my own, a poem full of verses came out! I was really impressed with myself! I would write it here, but don’t want to embarrass myself! It described our past year together and was both funny and meaningful. I stayed up to 2am perfecting it. But it was worth the effort and he loved it! I was off on Tuesday, so I spent the day making Valentine’s cookies for him. He loves caramel, so I would have preferred to have made caramel cupcakes, but I didn’t want to make a mess of them when they were for a special occasion! Even though I burnt the cookies, they still went down a treat 🙂

As we were going away at the weekend, we did nothing special on Valentine’s night. We had a chinese, swapped presents, enjoyed some cuddle time and maybe some sexy time 😉 Jack gave me a little charm for my bracelet along with some roses. I especially loved the roses, because I’ve never received flowers before! I had another little treat in store for him, which I was saving for the weekend, but unfortunately we didn’t get the time. He has to wait to our next weekend away now!

This past weekend was lovely 🙂 We travelled down to the coast on Friday, where we were booked in for a massage and overnight stay at a 4* hotel. I had never had a massage before and boy was it good! I wanted it to carry on forever! The girl kept running her hands over my bum and boobs though. I don’t know if she was meant to, but I didn’t mind all the same haha. After a quickie 😉 we headed down to one of the hotel’s bars for food. Apparently, exactly the same food is served in the restaurant, only £5 dearer! The cheek! Not that I’m a fan of fancy restaurants anyway and the ambience in the bar was much nicer! It was an old barn that the hotel has been built around, with a huge open fire in the corner, which made it really cosy. It was quiet and cute and much more romantic! As for the food, well it really was delicious! And I ate every last bite! I haven’t tasted food like that in ages. Mmmm thinking about it now, I really wish I could pop in there for dinner tonight. We will definitely be back!

After dinner, we headed out for a few drinks with Jack’s uncle who lives near by. I get really nervous meeting his family. I’m really shy as it is and then to have the added pressure of hoping his family likes me! But his uncle was really nice and I found it easy to chat away with him. I just hope I didn’t say anything I shouldn’t have! The words just flow when I’ve had a couple! When we got back to our room, I had been hoping for a marathon love session haha. But we were both really tired and fell asleep straight away. We did enjoy some morning sex, but there wasn’t enough time for me to really give Jack his Valentine’s treat! What is it with hotels and their early checkout times?! You should be able to enjoy your room until 2pm!

After checking out, we had a stroll around the town before stopping to eat lunch. We were won over by it’s offer of a cheap lunch and lovely interior. However,  your typical soups and sandwiches weren’t on the menu. It was incredibly fancy despite the low prices and it took me ages to choose something I would actually eat. I opted for a curried chicken wrap in the end whilst Jack managed to get a bowl of chips! But again, the food was delicious! We then attempted to go for dessert in the local ice cream parlour, but like always it was bunged and we didn’t fancy waiting. So instead, we headed home and on the way stopped off at a lovely cafe Jack knew. My belly must have been loving me this weekend, because again the food was amazing! I had banoffee and Jack had chocolate fudge cake. To top it off we enjoyed a hot chocolate with marshmallows and a flake 🙂 And then, we were homeward bound 😦

So that was my weekend of great food and great sex! It was lovely just to be able to spend some quality time with Jack. We never seem to be able to get the time these days. And the next few weeks are going to be even worse. At one point I think we won’t see each other for over a week! It sucks! I can’t wait until we get a place of our own. We might be busy all day, but at least we’ll be coming home to each other at night. We’ve got a couple of years to go yet though. And I know that point will be here sooner than we think!

Right, all this talking about food has made me starving! Time to get the pancakes on the go 😀

Drunken Boyfriends

My boyfriend is in no way an alcoholic. But when he drinks, he really goes for it. He doesn’t understand the meaning of just going to the pub ‘for a few’. I’m happy enough with 3, maybe 4 pints and that would get me quite tipsy. But him, a few to him means anywhere between 6 and 11! And then of course, he’s wasted! Now I don’t have a problem with this when we’re on a big night out, but not when we’re just down the pub for a quiet one.

I find myself being really embarrassed by him when he’s that drunk. He gets too loud, has to add a curse word to every sentence and sometimes says things without thinking. He becomes so unattractive! But you know what the funny thing is, my friends find him hilarious. And likewise, when I see their boyfriends in that state, I don’t think to myself, ‘oh look at the state of him, he’s horrible, rude and disgusting’, no, I have a good old laugh at them too! Yet, I know my friends are also embarrassed by their boyfriend’s drunken behaviour.

So why is it we can laugh at others, but can’t accept our own loved one’s drunkenness?!

Hello world!

First posts are always a bit silly. And awkward. Like first meetings, I never know what to say and just want to skip to the fun part!

I don’t really know where I’m wanting to go with this blog, but I’ve just gone for quite a few months without a laptop and the internet. Weirdly, I’ve felt so cut off from the world. Not that I’m a hermit or anything. But not having the internet for so long makes you realise just how much we’ve come to rely on it. It makes everything and everyone so much more connected. I haven’t blogged before and although I often read forums, I myself have never posted anything. But this whole time I’ve had no internet, all I’ve been wanting to do is get online and actually interact with internet folk! It’s been a massive craving!

So here I am with my new laptop and internet connection and doing just that! This will probably be a total mish mash of all the random things that pop into my head!

One more thing, the absolute worst thing about not having the internet, was not having access to Google. I google everything! EVERYTHING! It’s got to be one of the best inventions ever made!
